Sierra Pacific Industries Foundation donates $2,500 to Calaveras Community Foundation

Sierra Pacific Industries Foundation has recently donated $2,500 to the Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF).

Paul Stein, CCF Vice President, accepted this generous donation from Mark Luster, Community Relations Manager for Sierra Pacific Industries Foundation. Mr. Luster states, ““At Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI) we understand the importance of the community work of the Calaveras Community Foundation and we are proud to be a supporter.”

This donation from SPI benefits the Career and Technical Training (C&TT) Scholarship Fund. The C&TT Scholarship Fund, administered by the Foundation, was founded on the belief that high school graduates need to have options in pursuing training or further education aside from the traditional four-year college. A wide range of opportunities exists in our region for youth seeking associate degrees and certificates leading to good paying technical or vocational career paths. Since the inception of this fund, 36 local students have received monetary awards and the total dollar amounts to over $37,000.

C&TT scholarship winners for 2015 will soon be announced. A total of more than 40 scholarship applications coming from Calaveras High School, Bret Harte High School and Mountain Oaks were received. Six (6) scholarships for 2015 will be given in the amount of $1500 each.

“The Foundation is building new relationships and funding more community causes than ever before. Our growth is a testament to longstanding partners such as Sierra Pacific Industries. SPI has consistently supported the goal of providing educational opportunities for the youth of Calaveras County, ” states Stein.
