Chairs for Charity 2011 raised over $9,900 – Thank You to Everyone!

Every dollar raised will
stay in Calaveras County
to benefit our communites.

The three sponsoring non-profits, Soroptimist International of Calaveras County, Calaveras Arts Council and Calaveras Community Foundation, joined forces, for the third year, on January 29th at the San Andreas Town Hall.

Chair-themed art, high-end raffle prizes, and dinner guests filled the Town Hall.

Some of the chair-themed art was selected for a live auction conducted from the stage by Roark Weber and Brent Harrington.

Brent and Roark reminded the audience that the live and silent auctions bids all benefitted Calaveras communities.

More than 200 guests participated in the live and silent auctions, enjoyed the delicious buffet dinner catered by Tim Folendorf and won high-end raffle prizes from the raffle table.

Silent Auction items represented a wide variety of media, sizes, and execution approach. Fun to browse and bid on!

Dinner guests reviewed the raffle prizes and chose which items they’d submit their tickets on.

Xtreme Musical Chairs, another crowd pleaser this year, was met with enthusiasm and laughter.

Nine local charitable groups benefited from their chair or chair-related entries.  They were: My Own School, Calaveras County Friends of the Library, Writer’s Unlimited, Mountain Ranch Youth Alliance, Blue Mountain Coalition for Youth and Families, Angels Camp Mercantile, as well as the three sponsoring groups.

Profits from Chairs for Charity are split equally to support programs & projects of the three sponsoring groups.  The proceeds from the last three years amounts to $23,400.  Every penny of those funds has gone back to non-profit groups within Calaveras County communities.

Calaveras Community Foundation volunteers helped promote and stage Chairs for Charity 2011.
